How To Tell if Your Sneaker Fits
Now that the summer months are approaching many people are planning to be more active in physical activities like softball, biking, jogging, tennis etc. and one of the most important aspects of not getting injured during these physical activities is knowing how to choose a sneaker that fits correctly. If you are active, the correct sneaker fit is essential. Consider some of the following tips on how to choose a properly fitting shoe.
Usually the first step when trying on shoes is to decide if there is enough space at the front of the shoe for the toes. It is an important step that many people are unsure about – Here’s how to check for the appropriate amount of space at the front of the shoe: The distance between your longest toe and the front of the shoe should be approximately the size of your thumb.
Once you have examined the fit of the front of the shoe you can check the heel. A good suggestion is to remember that your heel should never slip up or down while you move around. The heel should stay still.
The same rule we use for heels can be applied to the sides of your new runners. The widest section of your foot should be tight enough to stay in place while walking but not too tight that it becomes uncomfortable to wear.
The last piece of advice to think about when looking for the perfect shoe is to check the top of the shoe. The section of the footwear that covers the top of your foot should not be too tight but should be taut enough to stay in place without irritating your foot – No one likes that uncomfortable feeling!
If the shoes are not for competitions or sports then the fit is not a major issue. If the shoe is being purchased specifically for sports then you must make sure they fit the foot appropriately. Please be certain that the shoe fits in the four suggested areas: the heel, the front toe, the width and tongue or top. If you stick to these ideas you will find a running shoe that is ideal for exercise and daily physical activities.
