What To Buy When You Are Expecting A Baby Girl
There are so many cute and lovely newborn baby girl things to buy that it is easy to get carried away and end up spending a fortune on items. While it is fun to indulge yourself and buy some really cute little bits and pieces, there are certain things that are essential for your newborn and many other items that you can live without spending the money on.
Baby cribs can be dressed up very nicely to look feminine for your imminent baby girl. Make them girly by buying quilt sets and sheets in pinks or girlish prints. You can also accessorize parts of the cot to look more feminine, however you should be careful that nothing you add would become a potential choking hazard. If you are thinking about having more children later on, then avoid buying a cot that is too gender specific.
Another option is to keep the cot fairly neutral and accessorize the nursery in pinks, prints and murals that are more themed towards a girl.
When you go shopping to purchase clothes for your baby, try not to be tempted into buying too many in the smaller newborn size. They grow out of them within a couple of weeks and you will be left with barely used clothing. Purchase little girls sweatshirts, rompers and so on in the next size up and they will be able to be used for much longer.
Babies go through a lot of clothes particularly girls t shirts and vests. They often wet them, vomit on them, dribble on them and so on, so it is worth having quite a few changes of these ready to go. You will need enough to have a couple for one day, so in the laundry and some in reserve just in case.
Some of the other things that are essential for babies are plenty of socks to keep their tiny feet warm, blankets and muslin wraps to keep them warm and secure feeling, a baby change table, baby bath and plenty of nappies. It is a good idea to invest in a good breast pump if you are planning to breast feed and bottles that easily attach to the system that you choose. An ear thermometer will also come in handy for years to come as they are fast and accurate at reading temperature.
There are many items to be bought when you are expecting a baby. Some items are essential and other items are really just there to make things a bit easier, but you can live without them. If it is your first time, then you should speak with other mothers that you know to get a thorough idea of what items you can’t live without.
